The correct size should feel like a shimmy over your knuckle both ways, with some movement at the base of the finger.
If you are selecting a wide ring or a stacking set that will take up a wide area of your finger, consider sizing up a quarter to a half size. The more area that the ring takes up on the fleshy part of your finger, the tighter it will feel.
